BWSL’s Fauntleroy a prospect to watch

One of my favorite players already this summer is Boo Williams Summer League class of 2022 prospect Kennedy Fauntleroy.

Fauntleroy, immediately caught my attention during the recent Nike Girls Invitational in Hampton, VA.  Despite being one of the youngest players in the 16-and-under division and one of two freshmen listed on the BWSL roster, Fauntleroy checks nearly every box for a young prospect.

The 5-foot-8 guard was an All-Met honorable mention selection this past season with Rock Creek Christian Academy.  Fauntleroy gives much of the credit for her current level of play to Rock Creek had coach Malik Waleed. Along with a well-shaped diet and training regimen.

“You have to keep your body healthy and be very well-conditioned on this level,” Fauntleroy noted.

When she does get some down time (if that exists for a high-level athlete), Kennedy also enjoys cooking. One thing about success, it breeds confidence. The great ones, confidence oozes from their pores.

But for Fauntleroy, confidence has never been a problem. Even before the heightened media attention.  There are certain players that just enjoy the big moments. Kennedy has always exuded the qualities of a next-level player.

“I think it comes from my dad. He’s a very laid back person. But it could also be from me playing for a little while,” Fauntleroy noted.

On the court, Fauntleroy believes her ability to create for others is the biggest asset in her game. Her skillset was on full display in Hampton, willing her team to close win over Pro Skills (Tx) to advance in bracket play.

Fauntleroy’s recruitment is beginning to pick up, scoring interest from Boston College, James Madison, Maryland, Old Dominion, UNC Greensboro and Virginia Tech. Rutgers and UNC Wilmington have tossed out early offers.

Expect Fauntleroy to make an even greater splash in the national recruiting rankings over the next few years, becoming the latest in what has been a fruitful Boo Williams Summer League Girls program.
