The inaugural 757 vs The World baseball showcase will take place June 18-19 at Norfolk State University. The two-day event, which will also include a combine portion open to college coaches, will pit top youth and high school players from the Hampton Roads area against athletes from across the country.
Participation in this year’s 757 vs The World showcase will be limited to 7th-12th grade athletes only. Maury High School varsity coach Larry Gordon will oversee selections for the 757 teams. Gordon will also serve as head coach for the 757 high school showcase team.
“Being a part of the baseball community in the 757 has been a pleasure of mine since I played little league at NAS in Norfolk. For an event like this with such a local feel and connection to finally come around, I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it,” Gordon noted.
Adding, “The event that Jamaar and I-64 Sports will be hosting will be great and will showcase a lot of the local talent that is in the 757, and hopefully boost the coverage of baseball in the area for the future. The event will be the beginning of many from I-64 Sports that will serve to showcase the local baseball talent in the 757.”
