Week three of the inaugural 757 Youth Basketball Summer League kicked off on Monday with both Pee Wee Division leaders in action.
Division scoring leader Jalen Freeman and Greyhounds Elite put their 2-0 record on the line against Boo Williams Red Tide. The Greyhounds started out Monday’s contest on the sluggish side. Perhaps from its third contest in as many weeks or it could have been the defensive resistance of BWSL. Still, with Jachai Barner torching the nets for 11 first-half points, Greyhounds Elite took a 14-6 lead into intermission.
Barner and Freeman took turns creating scoring opportunities in the second half, pulling away from the Red Tide for a 36-7 victory. Barner led all scorers with 16 points. Greyhounds Elite move to 3-0 while BWSL falls to 0-2.
In the second game of Monday’s doubleheader, Portsmouth City Blue Devils and Norfolk Dynasty locked horns in a thriller. It was too much Damario Warren for the Dynasty who were looking for the first regular season win.
Warren finished with seven of the Blue Devils’ 18 points in a ten-point win.
