Is Portsmouth’s Jamal Brown the best middle school prospect in Hampton Roads ever?

by Jamaar Hawkins, i64sports

Portsmouth native Jamal Brown is one of the top middle school basketball players in the country. Coast 2 Coast Preps, a scouting service recently tabbed Brown as co-number 1 player in the class of 2025.

The 6-foot-4 class of 2025 has been featured on nearly every youth basketball media outlet. Brown solidified his standing as the top middle school prospect in the country at last summer’s MSHTV Camp in Indianapolis, Indiana competing against fellow nationally-ranked competition.

In the below clip via Slam Magazine, Brown displays the level of talent that places his among the best in the country by most talent observers. A kid that could barely dribble a basketball two years ago. Unbelievable!

Brown and Waters will face crosstown rival Churchland in Wednesday’s Portsmouth City Middle School championship game. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 pm at William E Waters Middle School.

We are so, so proud of our former student, 69. That’s the nickname I gave him as a fifth grader. He would get so tickled when I would say: pull your pants up. Your panties are showing. All in stuff love…. Congratulations Jamal. We at WES wish you the best….
