Senior forward Michael Christmas led Landstown with 27 points and nine rebounds as the Eagles held off Lake Braddock, 79-60, to win the Class 6 boys state title.
Landstown led 40-28 at the half and extended the lead to nearly 20 points midway through the third quarter, but Lake Braddock stormed back into the game to cut the margin to single digits in the fourth quarter.
But each time Lake Braddock attempted to claw back into the game, Landstown (specifically Christmas) had an answer. The James Madison signee capped the win with an emphatic slam late in the game. The win capped off the first-ever state title for Landstown head coach Dwight Robinson, who had previously finished runner-up twice.
