In this week’s first session of the Nike Girls EYBL, our local squad Boo Williams looks to make a mark early on their quest to the Nike Nationals in Chicago. In Pool B, the star-studded team with a mix of underclassmen and upperclassmen looks to make run for the national championship.
Let’s take a closer look into the fabulous ladies playing for BWSL this summer:
This year BWSL team will be packed with high-level talent in the backcourt. Sophomore guard Aziaha James, from nearby Princess Anne High School, was one of the best players in Virginia along with G Jasha Clinton who was one of the best defenders in the State for Class 5 champion Princess Anne High School. Clinton has a pitbull mentality and will take the challenge of locking down any teams opposing guard.
Boo Williams will also have G Jada Walker who is coming off a Geico National Championship for New Hope Academy. Walker also took home MVP honors. Walker can run the show and can light it up from deep. As a sophomore coming off of a great high school season, Walker will bring some added swag, confidence and leadership to this team.
6’0 guard Elizabeth Martino from Riverdale Baptist will be a huge factor for this team as well. Martino may be one of the most versatile players on the roster. At 6’0, she can shoot it from deep, mid-range and also get to the rim and dish it off to teammates. Tracey Hueston will also be a force inside. The 6’1 forward can rebound with the best of them and finish softly under duress.
Kayla Ivey will also add even more firepower to an already stacked backcourt. Ivey will be another floor-general who can also go get her own buckets out of pick and roll or on iso situations. Another local product Janiya Guilloux from Norview will add even more versatility to this squad. Guilloux is a very crafty guard who can score and make plays as well as lock down on defense.
